Okay, we had a few days off. Not doing that much. Went out with Ilke to Eindhoven and Helmond with queens-night (the night before queens day). Upgraded to a new WP version and of course relaxed at home. Tomorrow working again and than it is time for another 2 days weekend before going back to Philips again. I wish you all a nice few days off.
Currently working for a company we decided to implement Fedora Directory Services as Unix Identity Storage. A nice LDAP server system with a nice interface. Not really useful in the beginnings, probably due to the lack of my own knowledge but it supports nice fail over and replication methods. Multi-master replication was easy to setup. Currently I only have problems with the directory admin server and SSL. It seems when I install the certificates the server is not longer responding. We need the SSL option to comply to the SOX standard.
Who has some experience with this?
Naja bijna. Ik ben druk bezig met het inrichten van Zabbix. Michiel en ik hebben ondertussen onze servers er al in onder gebracht. Nu wachten tot zaterdag dat we met z’n allen bij elkaar zitten om de rest aan elkaar te knopen natuurlijk.
Okay, just upgraded WordPress to version 2.5. And as you see I moved it to a subdomein. Nothing to worry about. All posts are still here. Of course on a different server 
. Secondly you see that my theme has been fckd for now. This because my old theme is not (yet) WP2.5 compatible. I’m working on a nice new one and hopefully that one will be finished someday.

Wieers wrote a nice article about putty settings which you really should put as default. Darkblue is better readable and some other stuff is also configured. I really would like this to be the default putty settings in the future.

I managed to get an HP T5700 Thin Client Machine. Which will get a function later. For now it is just a nice toy. I managed to boot some linux stuff over PXE and running the debian installer with the “nopcmcia” option. Because the internal flash is just 192MB (it is one of the earlier editions). I have a lack of internal discspace, I can solve this of course with a simple USB stick solution. Well. For now I have Thinstation running and it is definitive a cool small application for commercial stuff.
Anyways enough BS for now. I’m going to play further in a few hours. But first NCIS

Vandaag een aflevering gezien van Criminal Minds. De aflevering zelf was niet zo bijzonder. De boodschap erachter wel Korte samenvatting houdt in dat we moslims niet moeten vertrouwen. De koran wordt onderuit gehaald. En op moedige manier door manipulatie wordt een ramp voorkomen. Nu wil ik het hier niet over hebben.
Ik wil het hebben over het feit dat media en geloof dicht bij elkaar liggen. Oorlog en geloof ook. De laatste jaren wordt de wereld geteisterd met angstbeelden jegens moslims en hun heilige jihad. Maar is dit geoorloofd om op deze manier een massabeeld te maken dat alles wat anders is, geloof, gezicht, denkbeelden anders zijn en eng. Is het Amerikaanse denkbeeld goed. Zijn wij zoals we zijn opgevoed perfect. Het korte antwoord hierop is nee. Toch zet het me aan het denken. Toch bedenk ik mij nu nog een keer als ik in de buurt kom van een potentieel terroristisch object. Maar wat is terrorisme. Allemaal vragen die door me hoofd spoken.
Is terrorisme en de jihaad wel het gevaarlijkste. Is het niet de media? De media daar die het westerse beeld daar verkeerd laat zien en vice versa. Krijgen wij wel de juiste beelden te zien. Taalbarrieres zijn zo groot dus we kunnen ook niet een kijkje nemen via het internet daar. En hebben we wel de juiste bronnen op internet? Dat is allemaal voor mij nu de vraag. We leven in een crisis. Een crisis die niemand op dit moment voor mogelijk kan houden. Een crisis die verstrekkende gevolgen heeft op economisch gebied momenteel. Maar niet alleen economisch ook emotioneel. Het beinvloed de mens in z’n doen en laten. Maar waar ligt de schuld. De schuld die het constant aanwakkert. Het aanwakkeren via een onschuldige serie. Series die onschuldig beginnen aflevering op aflevering geen geloofsovertuigingen meeneemt. Maar spontaan toch 1 aflevering doet. Voor mij is deze serie nu half afgeschreven.
Zoals de serie afsloot: “De jihaad stopt nooit”. Wil ik bij deze een vraag erachter stellen. “Wie heeft de jihaad veroorzaakt?” Naar mijn mening is het niet de Islam. Naar mijn mening is het geen geloof. Naar mijn mening is het een drang naar macht. Het indroctrineren van je eigen geloof en wereldbeeld in die van anderen. Totdat we allemaal schaapjes zijn en blijven. Is dit wat we willen? Is dit hoe we willen zijn. Niemand wil het. En toch lopen we allemaal achter de media aan.
