Vista join domain and first logon
If you have joined a domain remotely through VPN in Windows XP you probably know that the trick is to use the local user to create a VPN connection for everyone, dial-up to your company, join the domain, reboot and then use the logon using dial-up networking feature, when you first logon with your domain account (Thereby caching your credentials for future logons).
In Vista there is no Logon using dial-up networking option (Or at least I haven’t found it
instead the trick is to create a VPN connection, dial-up to your company, join the domain, reboot and then logon with the local user. Then dial-up to your VPN again and selest padlock icon, Switch User (While keeping you VPN connection open) and now logon to you domain account.
Sickness and incredible busy
Currently i’m sick (well, was) and still extremely busy. Getting my wireless fixed on one of the servers so they can move to the free power zone in my appartment is still going on. Finally I got ndiswrapper this far that everything works. Now the rest.
Maybe I should learn one thing from now on. Write documentation about it. Cause I don’t know which steps i’ve performed so I don’t know how to reproduce it again. Well next time better. It’s now time for bed.
Also time for a nice todo list soon. But thats one thing I have to put on my todo list, create digital todo list. And I should write an symbian application for that one. Somebody who knows an how-to about easy symbian application development? Some nice sites about it or something.
Well enough for now. Back to bed. Well back, I haven’t been there today. So up to bed and write to you later
Nice way to list packages on size
rpm -q -a –qf ‘%10{SIZE}\t%{NAME}\n’ | sort -k1,1n

For me it was two out of three.
Twenty-Five part two
I found out that it is still possible to use mail servers with MxStream / Direct-ADSL. Don’t know if this will work with all the providers

Get color codes based on a photo
Very easily for turning your hyves or other profile based site to something fancy. Get the colourcodes from a major picture on your site and copy/paste the ascii codes. Well how you do it? Just go to here
Looking a bit further on his website I see lot of interesting tools. Must say that the site owner is really mad
PV114T – Wrong capacity in Veritas
Well I had this issue standing open for a long time. My PowerVault 114T onlly showing 20GB of capacity. So deceided to google it up. Found out that the issue has some things to do with the Veritas drivers.
Here is a driver fixing this issue. My tape is now shown with the correct capacity. Also you can find the whitepaper over here. I don’t have more information about this at this moment. Only thing I hope is that compression will now work better to. With 15:1 was quite impressive but not usefull if it thinks you have 20GB tapes instead of 200GB LTO2
Remember
I need to remember this link before reinstalling. Cause it was quite usefull hopefully.
Well I will come back on the complete story if everything succeeds well
