Okay, it is a fact. From now on I don’t have any hardware servers in personal possession. Muon, my primary host was already a Xen instance, Palladium is now a VMWare instance, and I think I’m gonna keep it this way. No hardware worries any longer.

I found a new thing to keep me busy. Writing clear and understandable articles for people in management level. These articles I will write for a specific purpose. Try to keep in memory how I explain managers with little technical knowledge how stuff works. My first article is published today. Not really production ready but it is a nice way to explain managers how stuff should be working and why.

In my experience people will understand things much better if you give them real life examples which are not directly related but are like the things we try to explain. Example: Network routing is like the logistics process inside a company.

I managed to get Entourage to use growl. As a Mac user I’m naturally fan of the Growl application. It is nice te get a uniform way of receiving messages from applications without getting popup’s on all sides of your screen.

In style of Web 0.1 which is cool retro old skool. I created a link page with links I just love, like or read often. See link in the top to find it.

So, I’ve got a new domain. Linux-Wiki.NL. Simple goal is to improve and remember my linux skills over time. Mostly you perform an action and 6 months later when you need to do it again you forgot it. To prevent this I started stumbling around with words linux and wiki in domain names. Surprisingly a .nl domain was free. So I registered it and installed a simple MediaWiki instance, Anonymous edits are not allowed so you are required to create an account. Feel free to contribute with your documents and articles and maybe it will become an nice starting guide for Linux users (beginners and experts).

A nice logo is still under investigation. I do need to push someone with gimp skills or kick myself around for getting a nice small logo.

I just finished upgrading my weblog to WP 2.7. Seems a lot of changes in the back and not so much in the front. Everything seems working so /me is happy.

Happy 2009 to everyone. I’m wondering if people are really reading me weblog but still it was my line of output and it will remain in 2009.

As everybody is doing lately I also have some goals to reach in 2009. And lets look back at the end of the year if we reached it.

• Stick to the job. I managed to get a contract for undetermined time. And lets stick to it in 2010
• Keep the girl. I got a lovely girl and will keep her the rest of the year (i hope)
• Paying bills in time. And not like this year sometimes to late. A nice goal to reach
• Finish the house. Bought an house in November. Needs fixing up a lot and lets have it finished before 2010

4 goals to reach. maybe more maybe less. But for now it is good. My life is satisfying and lets keep it this way.
